The Fire of the Head branch is focused on cultivating Inspiration in the forms of the embodied arts, such as poetry, music, dance/inspired movement, and sacred drama. In Celtic lore, the state of creative inspiration is highly esteemed among the people and mastered by the filí, the ancient poet-seers. The word for this state in Old Irish is imbas. The Fire of the Head ignites the flame of Inspiration, from which we can expand our capacity for experiencing divine joy in this world. As we experience this joy, we share it with others, and the joy is contagious, making that single flame into many flames from which all may receive warmth.
It is said that at birth, Brighid the Saint was crowned with a column of flame rising up from her head to the heavens. Brighid the Goddess is a patroness of poetry, of the filí, and of all the embodied arts, imbuing creative inspiration to her followers through her radiant Fire of the Head.
Daniel Pac is the director of the Fire of the Head branch. Offerings in this branch will include: services such as lessons on piano, violin/fiddle, voice, and beginning Irish whistle; classes on Frame Drumming, ecstatic music-making, and poetry; and events such as concerts, dances, and the monthly Song Circle.
