The Fire of the Hands branch is focused on cultivating the act of Creation in the forms of various creative arts, crafts, and skills, such as smithcraft, fiber arts, jewelry-crafting, and gardening. As a smith, one must master the art of using fire to mold metal into the visions held in the mind, to make them into physical reality. Thus, the Fire of the Hands ignites the flame of Creation, the desire to manifest something meaningful outside of oneself on the physical plane. The object that is created now has the power to beautify the world, improve life, or otherwise uplift those who come into contact with it.
Brighid the Goddess is a patroness of smithcraft. Her luminous hands were use to temper the metal to make objects of divine beauty, usefulness, and protection. In Celtic lore, Brighid is also a mother-goddess, having Sovereignty over the Land and its fertility. Therefore, we invoke her into our gardening practices, that they be attuned with the natural harmony of the land and the spirits that inhabit it, blessing us with nourishment. In our crafting and our planting, we harness the Fire of the Hands to spark our creations.
Crystalline Ruby Muse is the director of the Fire of the Hands branch. Offerings in this branch will include: classes on Spellquilting, Magickal Mask-Making, and Permaculture; jewelry-crafting services; and events focused on crafting art with our hands. We are seeking a local smith who is dedicated to Brighid and either a student of or wise one in Gaelic cultural traditions to join our organization.
